CONTACT LENSES

The Eye Doctors, Inc. offers contact lens fitting services for almost any prescription.  We utilize many different types of contact lens technology to optimize your vision.  Whether you are new to wearing contact lenses or have worn them for many years, Dr. Viker or Dr. Gustafson will make sure you are wearing the best lens and using the best solution for your individual vision needs.  We offer daily disposables, extended wear, astigmatism (toric), bifocal, and rigid gas permeable contact lenses.

Some tips for healthy contact lens use:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water prior to handling your contact lenses.
  • Follow the replacement schedule given to you by your eye doctor, don’t stretch contact lenses beyond their FDA recommended limit.
  • Do not sleep in your contact lenses unless you have been fitted with extended wear contacts and have discussed it with your eye doctor.
  • Always use the prescribed contact lens solution to rinse and store your contact lenses, NEVER use tap water or saliva to rinse or rewet your lenses.  Exposure to tap water or saliva risks a sight-threatening infection.
  • Do not use saline to soak your contact lenses overnight, as saline does not have any disinfection ability to clean your lenses.
  • Keep your contact lens case clean and replace it every three months.
  • Do not reuse contact lens solution; use fresh solution every time you disinfect your lenses.
  • Remove your contact lenses prior to swimming or entering a hot tub.
  • Always have a current pair of spectacles as a backup to your contact lenses.
  • If you experience any pain, blurry vision, mucous discharge, light sensitivity or pain, switch to wearing your glasses and consult an eye doctor immediately.

If you are new to wearing contact lenses, our office is happy to help.  One of our opticians will sit with you one on one and teach you how to put contact lenses on your eyes, how to remove them, and how to properly care for your new lenses.  If you would like some tips, please watch the short video below:
